Detectives arrested a suspended assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and two of his associates along with Yaba tablets from Bahaddarhat area in the city on Thursday.
The arrestees were identified as ASI Md Redwanul Islam, 32, and his associates Golam Kibria Khokon, 42, and Abu Hena Mostafa, 32.
A team of Detective Branch of police led by Sub-inspector Md Abul Fazal Syed Talukder arrested them along with 1000 pieces of Yaba tablets from in front of Baraipara Imam Ali Jam-e Mosque in the evening, said a press release issued by Chittagong Metropolitan Police on Friday.
Earlier on November 27, 2016, a team of police arrested ASI Redwanul of Baklia Police Station along with two others while they were smuggling 1,700 Yaba pills in an area under Kotwali Police Station.
Since then Redwanul remained suspended.
