Police arrested a local Swechchachebak League leader while was
allegedly stabbing a tempo (human hauler) driver inside a traffic
police outpost in Bogra town on Friday night.
The arrested persdon was identified as Mahidul Hassan Palash alias
Chhoto Palash, president of the No 8 ward unit of Swechchhasebak
League and son of Bulu Pramanik of Seujgari area in the town.
Quoting witnesses, police said Palash, Shaheen, 30, a tempo driver of
Chaklokman area in the town, and 2/3 others went to the traffic police
outpost at about 8.00 pm.
An altercation ensued between Palash and Shaheen over a trifling matter.
Later, at one stage of altercation, Palash stabbed Shaheen
indiscriminately with sharp weapon, leaving him critically injured.
Hearing hue and cry, police arrested Palash along with the knife.
Shaheen was rushed to Bogra Saheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.
Palash, a notorious terrorist, is wanted in several cases, said police.
Earlier, he was arrested in connection with attack on a supporter of
Lahiripara union parishad chairman during election.
Besides, Palash is an accused in a case filed for vandalising and
torching Islami Chhatra Shibir office and Retina and Focous Coaching
Centres, run by the Islamist party, in the moth of November.
