Within five hours of killing a Juba League leader, Jamaat-e-Islami supporters have beaten to death a Swechchhasebok League leader at Kolaroa Upazila in Satkhira.Earlier on Tuesday noon, Jamaat supporters had beaen to death Dewarha Union Juba League General Secretary Mahmudul Hasan Babu.
Tuesday is the first day of the BNP-led-18-Party alliance’s 48-hour blockade. The Opposition alliance on Monday called the blockade protesting announcement of the election schedule.
Within five hours of Babu’s killing, Swechchhasebok League General Secretary Rabiul Islam was beaten to death.
Local Awami League, Juba League and Swechchhasebak League leaders and activists had vandalised business institutions owned by BNP members at Dewarha Bazar in protest against Babu’s killing, said Kolaroa Police Station’s OC Shahdara.
Later in the afternoon, Jamaat men beaten to death Islam at a shop at the Bazar, he said, adding that the assailants fled as soon as police and BGB personnel rushed to the scene.
