Sylhet Mayor Ariful Huq admitted to Hospital with chest pain

Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury, who was sent to jail on December 30 in the former finance minister Shah AMS Kibria murder case, was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) early Thursday.
Sources said Ariful Haque, also a BNP central leader, was taken to Dhaka Central Jail from Habiganj jail after he complained of chest pain at the dead of night.Later, he was admitted to the DMCH Coronary Care Unit around 4:00 am, said Mozammel Haque, in-charge of DMCH police camp.
On December 30, a Habiganj court sent Ariful Haque to jail, rejecting his bail prayer in the Kibria murder case.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Rokeya Akhter passed the order when mayor Ariful surrendered before her court seeking bail.
Earlier on December 21, Senior Judicial Magistrate Rashid Ahmed Milon, Judge of the Habiganj Cognizance Court-2, accepted the supplementary chargesheet filed against 35 people by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Police in connection with the killing of five people, including Kibria.
Three of the accused have been dropped from the chargesheet while 21 shown arrested, eight on bail and 11 remain fugitive.
The supplementary chargesheet was submitted by CID assistant superintendent of police Meherunnesa Khanam on November 13, a decade after the death of Shah AMS Kibria implicating former State Minister for Home Lutfozzaman Babar, former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia’s political secretary Harris Chowdhury and Sylhet City mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury, in the Kibria murder case. – UNB
