A court in Dhaka on Monday asked Tarique Rahman, senior vice chairman of BNP, to appear before it, in connection with a case for making derogatory remarks on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Rezaul Karim passed the order.Monir Khan, central sub-committee member of Awami League filed the case. Tarique Rahman at a function in London on November 7, made the said derogatory remarks.
Tarique Rahman has been living in London since 2008 when the last military-backed caretaker government allowed him to leave the country for medical treatment. For about a year he has been responding to attacks on his father late President Ziaur Rahman with vrbal attacks on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. – News Desk
