Tarique in charge of movement, says Quamrul

Food Minister Quamrul Islam on Tuesday said BNP senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman has been pulling the strings from abroad over the current violence as Khaleda Zia has lost control on her party leadership.
“Khaleda has no longer any control over BNP leadership. It’s Tarique who now runs the party and gives instructions to his party men to carry out the movement through atrocities …BNP has turned into a terror outfit losing its political character,” he said. The minister was addressing a discussion organised by Bangabandhu Prajanma League at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU).
Replying to BNP vice chairman Sadek Hosssain Khoka’s recent comment from the USA, Quamrul asked Khoka to return home to face people. “People will teach you a good lesson through a mass beating.”
Khoka had made the comment at a commemoration meeting over the death of BNP chairperson’s son Arafat Rahman Koko saying it will only take 30 minutes to drive out Awami League activists from Dhaka city.
Quamrul alleged that the ongoing movement of BNP unleashing terror activities was not the main agenda for holding midterm elections, but to make Bangladesh a failed state and save her and her son Tarique from corruption cases.
Chaired by Bangabandhu Prajanma League president barrister Zakir Ahmed, Nahim Razzaq MP, Abdul Wadud Dara MP, among others, spoke at the discussion. – UNB
