Three Bangladeshi films to screen at Global Cinema Festival Siliguri

International Fashion Designer Bibi Russell will showcase her collection at the Empower Fashion for Films fashion show there.
The Film Federation of India, in association with West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation Limited, will organise the first Global Cinema Festival Siliguri 2019 from August 21. Three Bangladeshi feature films will be screened there- Hasina, A daughter’s Tale (2018), Sincerely Yours, Dhaka (2018), and Swatta (2017).
The official curator of the festival, Premendra Mazumder told Dhaka Tribune Showtime how the selected Bangladeshi films stood out.
“Film Federation of India, the apex body of the Producers Organisations all over the country looking after all the activities of the huge film industry of India, is organizing first-time this international event of the Global Cinema Festival,” he said. “Hence, while selecting the films, we have to give equal importance to artistically brilliant film like Sincerely Yours, Dhaka, politically important film like Hasina: A Daughter’s Tale and commercially successful film Swatta from our closest neighbourhood film industry of Bangladesh.”
The festival will show 36 feature, and 24 short films in three auditoriums – Dinabandhu Mancha, Rabindra Bhavan, and New Cinema. On August 22, there will also be a fashion show, featuring some of the top designers, along with top models from Bangladesh, India, and Nepal. There will be four celebrity showstoppers- Rituparna Sengupta, Swastika Mukherjee, Gargee Roychowdhury, and Pranjal Bhat.
