Three RU teachers punished for farud, neglect, embezzement

The Rajshahi University (RU) authorities have taken punitive action against three teachers of the university on various charges.
The actions were taken at the 456th meeting of the Syndicate held on Saturday night following recommendations of separate probe committees. RU Vice-chancellor Prof Muhammad Mizanuddin presided over the meeting.Acting registrar and Syndicate member Prof Entajul Haque said the meeting decided to bar Krisnapada Mondal, Associate Professor of the Music Department, from taking part in any other activities other than taking classes for 10 years on charge of fraudulence.
During the period, he cannot perform any administrative work and cannot supervise any research and his promotion will remain suspended.
It was learnt that Krishnapad incorporated the contents of the PhD thesis of Prof Dr Asit Roy in this recently published book without his consent.
The authorities also suspended Mamun Hossain, a lecturer of the Accounting and Information Management Department, for loosing exam sheets.
The Syndicate issued a show-cause notice to Professor Mazed Chowdhury of the department for embezzling money in the name of giving job at the university. – UNB
