Toki’s killers to be hunted down: MKA

Home Minister Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir on Sunday said those responsible for the killing of Toki will be brought to justice.“Actions will be taken against the culprits irrespective of their political affiliation. Stern actions will also be taken against those who took law in their own hands”, he minister said.

The Home Minister was addressing a function at Dockyard and Engineering Works marking the handover a ship at the dockyard run by the Bangladesh Navy.

Built at a cost of Tk 14 crore, the ship was handed over to Coast Guard at the programme at Sonakanda in Bandar upazila.

Narayanganj City Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy was also present at the function.

Speaking on the occasion, Ivy said that Toki’s killers will be arrested soon if the Home Minister gives a directive to the local administration in this regard.

Toki, son of Rabbi, a local leader of Ganajagaran Manch, was found dead in the Shitalakhya River on March 8.

Local people enforced a daylong hartal the next day protesting the killing.

Meanwhile, a youth, Saleh Rahman Simanta, was placed on a five-day police remand by a court here on Sunday in connection with the Toki murder. UNB
