Trader shot dead for refusal to pay extortion money

A transport trader was shot to death by miscreants over extortion at Ghorashal in Polash upazila in Narsingdi district early on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Milon Miah, 40, a resident of Phuldirtek area in the upazila.
Victim’s relatives said a group of miscreants stormed into the house of Milon in the early hours and opened fire on him, leaving him injured.Milon died on the way to Narsingdi General Hospital. On information, police recovered the body and sent it to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
Family sources said some local terrorists demanded extortion from Milon a few days back as he constructed a house in the area. But Milon refused to pay the toll.
They said Milon might have been killed over his refusal to pay extortion money.
Officer-in-charge of Polash Police Station Shahadat Hossain said they detained three people for interrogation. – UNB
