Two held for ‘driver murder during carjacking’ in Chittagong

Chittagong, Apr 13 – Police arrested two young men from Kattoli area in the port city early Saturday allegedly for attempting to carjack after killing its driver.
The details about the deceased and detainees could not be known immediately.
Jasim Uddin, officer-in-charge of Akbar Shah Police Station, said the private car carrying three young men crashed in Shoni Thakur Bari area around 11:30 pm on Friday while it was heading towards Uttar Kattoli Beribadh through Paschim Kattoli road.
When the locals came to rescue the passengers they spotted a body in the back seat of the car.
Being suspicious over the youths’ incoherent speeches, locals gave them a good thrash and handed them over to police.
However, among them, one managed to flee the scene.
Initially it is suspected that the deceased was the driver of the car and the carjackers were heading towards Kattoli Beribadh to dump the body in the sea, said the OC. – UNB
