Rangpur – A truck driver and his assistant were arrested with 100-kilogram smuggled ganja from the Teesta Road Bridge Toll Plaza point on the Kurigram-Rangpur highway under Sadar upazila in Lalmonirhat district today.The arrested are truck driver Rabiul Islam, 35, son of Shariful Islam and his assistant driver Helal Mandal, 25, son of Jalal Uddin Mandal of Shantidanga area under Islami University Thana in Kusthia district.Agency“On a tip off, police challenged the Kushtia bound truck from Kurigram, seized the smuggled ganja and arrested the two persons red-handed from the spot,” Lalmonirhat Police Super SM Rashidul Haque said.”A case was filed with Lalmonirhat Sadar Thana police in this connection against the arrested persons under the Narcotics Control Act,” Haque added.Later, police produced the arrested persons before a Lalmonirhat court from where they were sent to the jail hajat this afternoon, police sources said.
