Two shot for ‘ballot snatching bid’ in Satkhira

Dhaka – Two people were injured in police firing during their alleged attempt to snatch ballots at Bhaghbah polling centre in Kumira union of Tala upazila on Tuesday morning, news agency UNB reported from Satkhira.
Election officer AHM Qamrul Hasan said supporters of BNP-backed candidate Golam Mostafa obstructed men of Awami League-backed candidate Azizur Rahman when they tried to snatch ballots at Bhaghbah polling centre moments before the balloting started.
At one stage, a brawl ensued between the two groups.
Later to quell the unrest, police opened fire, leaving Quddus and Rubel, men of Azizur, injured.
They were rushed to Satkhira Sadar Hospital from where Rubel was shifted to Khulna 250-bed General Hospital.
