Two students’ death in rash driving: Charge hearing Oct 25

Dhaka, Oct 22 – The Metropolitan Sessions Judges Court of Dhaka set October 25 for hearing on charge framing in the case filed over road crash death of two Shaheed Ramiz UddinCantonment College students on Airport Road on July 29. After scrutinising the documents, the court on Monday accepts homicide charges against the two drivers, two helpers and two owners of Jabal-E-Noor Parbihan buses accused of the deaths.
Judge KM Imrul Kayes of the court passed the order. Arrestwarrants were issued against two accused- helper Kazi Asad andowner Jahangir Alam, who were on the run since the death.
On September 6, Inspector Kazi Shariful Islam of DetectiveBranch (DB) submitted the charge sheet to the ChiefMetropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court in Dhaka against the six.
The accused are bus drivers Masum Billah and Zobair HossainSumon, their assistants Enayet Hossain and Kazi Asad, and busowners Shahadat Hossain and Jahangir Alam.
The deaths of students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin CantonmentCollege- Abdul Karim Rajib, 18, and Dia Khanam Mim, 17, inthe accident triggered nationwide student protests for safe roads.
Dia’s father Jahangir Alam lodged the case with Cantonment Police Station. – Special Correspondent
