The RAB official also said a team of elite anti-crime force laid siege to the presumed militant den on a secret information about the presence of JMB members around 3 am last night and later conducted drive there.
At one stage, the militants opened fire and threw bombs at the elite forces, prompting them to retaliate, he said.
“Later, a huge explosion was heard at around 4 am,” Fahim said, adding the militants might have detonated a bomb inside the hideout.
RAB bomb disposal unit diffused the five crude bombs recovered from the spot, other RAB officials later said.
Suspecting the deceased as operatives of banned outfit JMB, they said the militants might have a plan to carry out a terrorist attack on the court premises in Chattogram.

The arrested persons informed the elite force that the suspected Militants rented the house on 1st October last. – Agencies
