Jessore, June 6 – Customs officials here on Monday night detained three people and seized a goods-laden truck while it was crossing Benapole port without legal documents of the goods.Shawkat Hossain, customs commissioner of Benapole Port, said that a team of customs officials conducted the drive on information that a truck, carrying Indian three-piece, imitation jewellery and cosmetics, is going out of the shed no. 29 of the port without paying duties.
Later, they seized the truck and detained three people including the driver and helper in this connection.
Meanwhile, customs intelligence officials have begun an investigation to find out how the consignment of Indian goods entered Bangladesh without valid documents. – UNB
