Dhaka, March 15 – The Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-2 of Dhaka on Wednesday granted bail to another accused in the case filed over the rape of two private university girls in a Banani hotel.Judge Shafiul Azam of the tribunal granted bail to Billal Hossain, driver of the prime accused Shafat Ahmed.
Earlier in January, the High Court Division of the Supreme Court granted bail to Shafat’s bodyguard Rahmat Ali, another accused in the case.
Three more accused in the case are now under the jail custody. They are Shafat Ahmed, son of Apan Jewellers owner Dildar Ahmed and his friends Shadman Sakif and Nayeem Ashraf.
On March 28, last year, Two university girls were raped at the Raintree Dhaka Hotel in Banani area of the city.
One of the rape victims filed the case with Banani Police Station on May 6 of the same year accusing five persons. They are- Shafat Ahmed, Shadman Sakif, Nayeem Ashraf, Billal and Rahmat. – Special Correspondent
