UP Chairman among 3 killed in Luxmipur clash

At least three people, including a UP chairman, were killed and 35 others injured, including 25 with bullets hit, in a clash in Dattapara under Sadar Thana of the district on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Dattapara UP Chairman Nur Hossain Shamim, 40, Mosleh Uddin, 18 and Delwar Hossain, 40.
The injured were taken to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital.
Local sources said the supporters of Shamim and Babul locked into a fierce clash over establishing supremacy in the area around 1.00pm.
On Wednesday noon, mob of Mandali union beat Shamim. Later, the supporters of Shamim and Babul opened fire that left UP chairman Shamim and local Mosleh Uddin killed on the spot and 36 others injured.
Fatally injured Delwar Hossain died in the hospital, said a spot account of the incident.
Assistant Super of Police (ASP) of Laxmipur Sadar Circle Kazi Helal Uddin said, “On information, police rushed in and took the situation under control.”
