Verdict in Nafis case Thursday

The verdict of Kuazi Mohammad Rezwanul Ahsan Nafis, detained in USA for plotting to blow up a Federal Reserve Bank, is set to be pronounced at Brooklyn Federal court on Thursday.Source said Chief Justice Carol Amon will pass the verdict at about 10:00am (New York Local Time).
Bangladesh Consul General Monirul Islam to New York confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Earlier on October 17, 2012, FBI held Nafis, 21, for plotting to blow up a Federal Reserve Bank in New York by detonating a 1,000-pound bomb.
Later on November 16, Grand jury indicted him on charges of using a weapon of mass destruction.
After hearing, a US court sent him to jail rejecting the bail prayer.
Diplomats from Bangladesh Embassy to Washington are likely to present in the Thursday’s hearing, Monirul added.
On February 8, Nafis has pleaded guilty to terrorism charges.
The crimes that Nafis reportedly committed refer to life-term imprisonment generally but the degree of punishment comes down following the admission of his guilt.
Nafis went to the United States in January in 2012 on a student visa under the pretext of attending college at Southeast Missouri State University and lived in Queens, New York, before his arrest. (Banglanews24.com)
