View exchange meeting on TB held in Faridpur

A view exchange meeting organized by National Anti-Tuberculosis
Association of Bangladesh (NATAB) on the ‘role of journalists in
identifying and preventing Tuberculosis’ was held yesterday at
Faridpur Press Club.
Speakers at the meeting opined that tuberculosis is no more a killer
disease now with the advancement of medical science and awareness
among the people. If the disease is diagnosed in right time and
treatment is given properly, which is now very much available
everywhere particularly in the government hospitals, then it is very
much curable.
Speakers also said the journalists can play an important role to give
necessary advices to the people about the disease and its treatment.
It was disclosed in the meeting that at present in Sadar, Nagarkanda
and Saltha upazillas of the district there are five Multiple Drug
Resistance (MDR) patients whose treatments are
going on under government management.
Civil Surgeon of the district Dr Sirajul Haque Talukdar was the chief
guest at the meeting while it was chaired by Faridpur chapter NATAB
president Prof Azizul Haque Khan.
NATAB secretary Akhtar Hossain Kamal, NATAB social mobilizer Zaed
Hossain Chowdhury and a number of local journalists addressed.
