Week-long folk art exhibition begins at EMK

The EMK Center will be hosting two events on its premises in Dhanmondi of the capital. In celebration of the International Tiger Day 2019 (created in 2010 at St. Petersburg Tiger Summit).
As a part of the celebration, a seminar on ‘Tiger Conservation in Bangladesh’ will be held at 4:30pm at EMK Center. Zoology Professor from Jahangirnagar University Dr M Monirul H Khan and Conservator of Forests Bangladesh Forest Department Jahidul Kabir Jewel will be present at the seminar as discussants.
Besides, a weeklong solo folk art exhibition by Tiger Nazir will begin today at EMK Center. The exhibition is hosting to enlighten by the subliminal messages of conservation of the Royal Bengal Tiger through the works of Patua Nazir Hossain in his one of a kind ‘Potchitra’, portraying the different traits of the Bengal Tiger.
Tiger Nazir’s subjects are that of the rural culture and work of Bangladeshi people working for their livelihood, such as the fishermen, farmers, their families combined with tigers and cobras that are taken from the traditional style of ‘Potchitra’.
His work will surely take an individual away from the chaos of the urban world to an idyll of the riverine of Bangladesh, the playfulness of the Royal Bengal Tiger in each of his works will make one wonder and think about the conservation of Bangladesh’s beautiful Delta Lands, the Sundarban and how one should work towards making the country clean and one’s responsibility in making sure that their love for Bangladesh’s natural resources and their ability in prevailing conservation and maintain peace and tranquility.
