Why not action against RMCH interns: HC

The High Court has asked why Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital interns who denied treatment to a journalist should not be denied their certificates.
A High Court bench on Thursday also asked under what authority those interns had denied treatment to the man.
The director general of health and the RMCH director have been asked to reply and also inform the court what actions had been taken against those interns. The home secretary, the health secretary, the vice-chancellor of Rajshahi University, Rajshahi deputy commissioner and superintendent of police were also asked to reply to the rule.
The court remarked that intern doctors had ‘crossed limits’ in many places.
“If you want to be a doctor, stay in the hospital, and if you plan to be a thug, go to the streets,” the court said.
It also expressed frustration over the incident.
The court issued the rule after taking cognisance of a media report that photojournalist Gulbar Ali Jewel of Daily Notun Probhat, a Rajshahi-based newspaper, had been denied treatment at the RMCH.
“Journalists are not treated here. Go to Dhaka or some other place,” he was told, according to reports.-bdnews24.com
