The World Sports Journalists Day was observed through a colourful procession, discussion followed by honouring of six elderly Sportsman of the district at the Bogra Press Club on Tuesday at noon.
The six sportsmen are the forerunner of Bogra Cricket Rashidunnabi Anu, The then National Team Footballer Shajahan Ali, Goalkeeper of Nation Football team Mirza Motiur Rahman, National Volley team player Nurul Alam Tutul, National Cricket team first member of the district Roanak Islam Tutul and member of national Handball, Volley ball team and national record taker Akherun Nessa.
Speakers on the discussion recalled the glorious and remarkable past of the sportsmen of the district and their contributions to national sports.
Administrator of the District Council, Dr. Mokbul Hossain was the chief guest at the function chaired by the president of Bogra Sports Reporters Association Mostafa Moghol.
