Dhaka – A special team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of DMP has arrested a person on suspicion of the killing of USAID staff Xulhaz Mannan and his friend Mahub Tanoy from Kushtia district, unb news agency reported.A senior DMP official said based on secret information, the team of the newly formed specialised unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police conducted a drive in Kushtia district and arrested Shariful Islam alias Sihab.
Contracted, Deputy Commissioner (Media) of DMP M Maruf Hossain Sarder admitted the arrest but did not give any details.
Earlier, USAID staff Xulhaz Mannan, editor of LGBT magazine Roopbaan, and his friend Mahbub Tanoy, an activist of theatre group Loknatya Dal, were hacked to death by some unidentified miscreants at an apartment in the capital’s Kalabagan area on April 25.
