Dhaka – A youth, who was detained following a clash between two groups of Bihari people in city’s Pallabi area ,died in police custody on Sunday.The deceased was identified as Md Jony, 25, son of late Md Mostafa, a resident of Irani Camp under Pallabi Police station
When two groups of Urdo speaking Bihari people of the area locked in a clash over a marriage ceremony early in the morning police rushed to spot and detained five people, including Jony, around 2:30 am and put them at thana hajat, said officer-in-charge of Pallabi police station Ziauzzaman .
As Jony fell sick he was first taken to nearby Adhunik Hospital and then shifted to Mirpur Heart foundation. Later, he was taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the doctor declared him dead at about 10:00 am, the OC said.
The body was sent to DMCH morgue for autopsy. – UNB
