Youth gets 3 yrs in jail for possessing Phensidyl

A court here on Monday sentenced a young man to three years’ rigorous imprisonment
for possessing Indian Phensidyl syrup illegally.
The convict was identified as Sumon alias Shomvu Sumon, son of Masud Alam of
Nurullapur village of the district’s Sadar upazila.
According to the prosecution, on secret information, a team of police conducted a drive in
the house of Sumon at Nurullapur village on January 7, 2012 and arrested him along with
nine bottles of Phensidyl.
Sub-inspector Rafiqul Islam of Jhalakathi Sadar Police Station filled a case against
Sumon in this connection.
Later, SI Golam Mostafa of the same police station submitted a charge sheet to a court
after investigation.
After examining witnesses and related documents, Judge Manjurul Imam of Jhalakathi
Special Tribunal-3 handed down the verdict. -UNB, Jhalakathi
