A young man was killed after being hit by a stray bullet fired accidentally from the gun of a local Awami League leader at Palerkhanda village in Morelganj upazila on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Masum Sardar,27, motorcycle driver of Jahangir Alam alias Badshah, joint convener of Jewdhara union unit Awami League and son of Abdur Rashid of the village.Sources said Masum received a bullet triggered unconsciously from the licensed gun of the Awami League leader when he was carrying the latter on the motorcycle to Laxmikhali village from Mongla in the afternoon.
Mohammad Aslam Khan, officer-in-charge of Morelganj Police Station, said police sent the body to sadar hospital morgue and detained the Awami League leader for quizzing.
Masum might have been killed after being hit by the bullet mistakenly fired from the gun of the Awami League leader, added the OC. – UNB
