Youth injured while crossing border into India dies

A Bangladeshi young man, who sustained injuries while crossing Chandahar border in Pirganj upazila into India on January 12, died at a hospital of that country on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahman, 28, son of Yunus Ali of Chandahar village in the upazila.Quoting BSF members, Pirganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer ABM Iftekharul Islam said Abdur Rahman and Asad sustained injures while they along with a group of Bangladeshi people, numbering 15-20, were crossing the Boroibari wall fence of India-Bangladesh on Chandahar frontier on January 12. Later, a BSF patrol team picked up and took them to Raiganj Hospital in India where Abdur Rahman succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday morning.  No bullet or torture marks were found in Rahman’s body, he said.  BSF members handed over the body to Bangladesh authorities through 333 no. pillar around 9:30pm on Wednesday, said Makbul Hossain, officer-in-charge of Pirganj Police Station. -UNB, Thakurgaon
