The minister issued the note of warning against the unscrupulous businessmen to refrain from adulteration of food a month ahead of the holy month of Ramazan.
Mr Majumder asserted that the government is also determined to ensure safe and nutritional food for the people.
He mentioned that the government has conducted 4,509 mobile courts from August 2015 to March this year (43 months) and fined Tk 5.43 crore from 7,562 people in connection with adulteration of food. A
total of 7,650 cases was filed to this regard, he added.

“Please, you (businessmen) do not increase the price of essentials in the month of Ramazan unnecessarily. Don’t try adulteration in food,” he said.
Nasim, also former health minister termed adulteration of food dangerous than killers.
“People those used to try food adulteration are dangerous than those are involved in killing people by setting fire… They are doing unpardonable crimes,” he said.
He argued that since the country turned into self-sufficient in food why won’t be able to take tougher action against food adulteration.
“Our neighbouring India continuously carried out drives against adulteration of food. The drive against adulteration of food will also be carried out in our country,” he said adding that the greedy businessmen would not be spared.
