A Dhaka court framed charges against 13 leaders and activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League for killing Zubair Ahmed, a student of
Jahangirnagar University.
Judge ABM Nizamul Haque of Dhaka’s Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 passed the order in presence of the accused on Sunday.
All the accused pleaded not guilty.
The accused are Shafiul Alam Setu of Statistics, Ashikul Islam Ashik of Zoology, Khan Mohammad Riaz and Jahid Hasan, KamruzamanSohag of Philosophy, Ishtiaque Mahbub Arup, Rashedul Islam Raju and Mahbub Akram of Government and Politics Department, History students Mahmudul Hasan and Majharul Islam, Nazmus Sakib Topu of Microbiology and Nazmul Hasan Plabon of Public Administration.
Of the accused Mahbub Akram and Nazmus Sakib made confessional statements under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
Zubair, a 37 batch English student of the university was killed on January 8, 2012.
