150 political leaders of Mymensingh pledge to Win with Peace

Mymensingh, Oct 6 – A total of 150 political leaders from Bangladesh Awami League (AL) and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Mymensingh Division came on one platform in Mymensingh on Saturday and pledged nonviolent and peaceful elections. The atmosphere was festive at the regional launch of the Shantite Bijoy (Win with Peace) campaign with enthusiastic participation by the political leaders of Mymensingh Division.

city. At the launch, political leaders of of the two major parties stood together in support of peace and harmony, and together vowed against violence.
At the event, BNP Mymensingh North sr. joint secretary Motaher Hossain Talukder expresses his hope on ensuring the equal participation of all parties in elections. BNP Mymensingh South general secretary Abu Wahab Akand said, there is no alternative to hold the upcoming national election under the neutral and non-partisan government to make it peaceful. He added, there can be no alternative of holding peaceful and participatory elections to ensure the democracy of the country. AL Mymensingh District general secretary Advocate Moyajjem Hossian Babul and AL Mymensingh City cresident Ehteshamul Alam called for playing an effective role by participating in elections to establish democracy which would make the election peaceful.
Additionally, BNP Sherpur District representative Mamunur Rashid Palash; AL Sherpur District representative Najim Uddin Najim; BNP Jamalpur District representative Md. Golam Rabbani; AL Jamalpur District representative Anjuman Ara Hena; BNP Tangail District representative Md. Mahmudul Haque; AL Tangail District representative Abdur Rouf spoke at the regional launch of Shantite Bijoy (Win with Peace) Campaign in Mymensingh.
With the national elections approaching, the Win with Peace campaign will engage and raise awareness among registered political parties, candidates, and citizens in Bangladesh on the importance of peaceful elections and tolerant politics. The campaign is providing the 16-crore people of Bangladesh with a platform to raise their voice to demand peace, harmony, and tolerant politics. The campaign is bringing together political leaders and citizens of Bangladesh in peace rallies, face to face dialogues with candidates, round table meetings, and workshops across Bangladesh, says a Democracy International Press release.
The Win with Peace campaign is implemented under Strengthening Political Landscape (SPL) project implemented by Democracy International is co-funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development (UK Aid).
