2 get life for killing BRDB official in C’nawabganj

 

A court in Chapainawabganj on Sunday sentenced two people to life term rigorous imprisonment (RI) each for killing an official of Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB) in 2010.

The court also fined the convicts—Kawsar Ali, 20, son of Qamrul Islam of Sirotala village of Shibganj upazila, and Masud Rana, 28, son of Abu Bakkar of the same village—Tk 10,000 each, in default, to suffer six months more RI.

According to the prosecution, miscreants killed Mohammad Abdullah, an assistant project officer of Chapainawabganj Sadar BRDB and son of Anwarul Haque of Keranipara of Rangpur district, in a government staff quarter in Sadar upazila on January 12, 2010.

Pankoj Kumar Saha, project officer of BRDB, filed a case against four people, including Kawsar Ali, Masud Rana, Harun-or-Rashid and Abdus Salam, with Sadar Police Station in connection with the killing.

Later, police submitted a charge sheet accusing Kawsar and Masud.

After examining the witnesses and evidence, Judge Abdus Salam Khan of the Additional District and Session’s Judge Court, handed down the verdict. -UNB, Chapainawabganj
