2 held on the charge of rape-murder of two 5-year-olds

Dhaka, Jan 09 – Police said two culprits were arrested over alleged rape and murder of two five-year-old girls in Demra of Dhaka had lured the girls inside a house with a promise of lipsticks before killing them.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP’s) Wari Division Deputy Commissioner (DC) Farid Uddin Ahmed on Wednesday made the statement to journalists at a briefing held at DMP Media CentreBased on the information, the prime accused Golam Mustafa (28), his landlord Md. Azizul Bawani (30) was arrested from Molla-bridge area of Demra on Tuesday night. Both of them are ceramic garment workers.
Describing the incident DC Farid Uddin said, “Faria Akter Dola and her friend Nusrat Jahan, both Five-year-old girls found murdered inside the house of Golam Mostafa, a 28-year-old, in Demra’s Konapara area.
Prime accused of the shocking incident, Mostofa, and his landlord Azizul then attempted to rape the two children, who screamed. Later, the two murdered the children by strangling them with a ‘gamchha’
(towel),” he added.
When the girls began screaming they tried to abuse them physically, they chocked the girls with towels to death. Both the arrestees were drug addicts, the deputy commissioner added.
Police have seized the gamchha, sandals of the victims, lipstick, and the sound box they allegedly used to play music during the attack.
The DC furthered that Azizul fled the scene after the incident; however, Mostofa stayed there until the evening. Mostofa’s wife Akhi—who works at a garments factory and was absent during the incident—came home, she found her husband acting suspiciously.
She asked her neighbours about her husband’s behaviour, causing Golam to flee the scene.
Later, neighbours found the bodies of the two children under Golam’s bedstead. Based on a tip-off, the police went to the site and recovered the bodies.
During preliminary interrogation, the accused said they had been taking yaba before the incident and played music very loudly so that individuals outside could not hear what was occurring indoors. When
the alleged attackers could not control the situation, they killed the minors, the deputy commissioner said.
Deputy Commissioner Farid continued: “On further investigation, we found that Golam already had a case filed against him with Jatrabari police station. Ceramics worker Mostafa hails from Madaripur while his cousin Azizul is originally from Faridpur. A case has been filed with Demra police over the murders. We sent the pair to court as they will give their confessional statements to the court.”
Earlier, two five-year-old girls Faria Akter Dola and Nusrat Jahan went missing on Monday. The murdered children were nursery school-goers who lived next to each other at Konapara’s Shahjalal Road
and were playing outside their homes before being abducted. The children found murdered inside a house of one of their neighbours that night. Those children killed after an attempted rape by two Azizul and
