224 people killed last month: HR Commission

A total of 224 people were killed across the country in the last month (May), according to a survey of Bangladesh Human Rights Commission. Of them, 137 were murdered, three due to rape, 38 by law enforcers, three due to negligence by doctors, three for dowry, two for acid attack and 38 met secret killings, said the survey.
The survey found that at least seven people were killed per day in the month.
The commission prepared the survey based on newspaper reports and its own sources.
Terming the killings as deterioration of law and order, the commission called on the authorities concerned to take necessary steps to reduce it to zero level. (Source: UNB)
