25 officials off to Korea for nursing edu training

Twenty-five senior officials left here on Friday to participate in a

14-day healthcare management training in Korea. They will participate in the course as a part of a project ‘Establishment of
National Institute of Advanced Practice Nurses in Bangladesh’
supported by Korea International Cooperation Agency (Koica) with a
budget of US$ 13.75 million. Kim Bok-Hee, the Resident
Representative of Koica Bangladesh office, welcomed the participants
at the pre-departure orientation at its office and expressed her hope
that all the participants will be equipped to use what they learned to
promote the best nursing education system in Bangladesh. The
participants are comprised of doctors, nurses, instructors and senior
managerial-level officials from the Ministry of Health and Family
Welfare, Directorate of Nursing Services (DNS), Economic Relation
Division (ERD), Planning Commission, IMED, BSMMU, Nursing Colleges and
Dhaka Medical College. The training aims to share the current
nursing education and practice, health care system and policy of Korea
that will help the participants provide new standardised performance
based education under the Koica-supported ‘National Institute of
Nursing in Bangladesh’. The program includes a series of lectures
and group discussions on ‘Korean Health Care System & Policy,’
‘Nursing Service Management’ ‘U-Health,” and visit culture
fieldtrips, etc. This training programme will provide the
opportunity to analyse the strengths and weaknesses of both Bangladesh
and Korean systems, and suggest the future direction of nursing
education development in Bangladesh. According to the agreement,
Koica will invite a total number of 63 Bangladeshi nurse-teachers and
managerial-level officers, including three nurses for four-year PhD
programme in Korea in order to provide training on modern nursing
education systems. In addition to the training programme, Koica will
construct modern facilities, including academic building, auditorium
and hostel, provide necessary education equipment, and dispatch Korean
experts for technical guidance and develop curriculum and education
