3 Biman engineers suspended over glitch in PM’s flight

Dhaka – Three engineers of Biman Bangladesh Airlines were suspended on Wednesday for their negligence of duty in the flight carrying Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to Budapest, Hungary.
The suspended officials are-Debesh Chowdhury, chief engineer (production), SA Siddique, chief engineer (quality assurance) and Billal Hossain, principal engineer.
The decision was taken after getting the full report of the probe committee formed by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, said Shakil Meraj, general manager (public relations) of the national flag carrier.
Earlier, on December 12, a four-member probe committed headed by Chief of Technical Captain Fazal Mahmud Chowdhury submitted the probe report to the Managing Director of Biman.
On November 30, six officials of Biman Bangladesh Airlines were suspended for their negligence of duty for the same reason.
The Biman flight, carrying the Prime Minister, had to make an emergency landing at Ashgabat International Airport in Turkmenistan on her way to Budapest on November 27 following low oil pressure to its engine.
Following its necessary repair work, the flight left Ashgabat Airport after a delay of over four hours.
Three separate probe committees were formed over the glitch in the flight carrying the Prime Minister. Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) and Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry formed the committees. -UNB
