Police in a drive arrested one leader and four activists of local unit Swechchhasebak Dal, volunteer front of BNP, in Shibganj area of the
city on Friday.
The arrested leader was identified as Raihanul Haque Rakku, president of ward no. 20 unit Swechchhasebak Dal. Sources at Shah Poran Police station said a team of police conducted a drive in the area around 7:00pm and arrested the five. Protesting the arrest, activists of the organisation brought out
processions in Shibganj and Baluchar from where they vandalised two vehicles.During the processions, the unruly activists also blasted 30 crude bombs, creating a panicky situation in the areas.Police said the arrestees were accused of carrying out subversive activities. – UNB, Sylhet
