Dhaka, Aug 20 – Five people, including four members of a family, were killed in a road accident in front of the Toll Plaza of Shah Amanat Bridge at Karnaphuli in the city in the early hours of Sunday.Officer-in-charge of Karnaphuli Police Station Rafiqul Islam said Sohel, 37, a resident of Karnaphuli area, was returning home along with his wife Bilkis, 32, their children Sharmin, 5, and Sabbir, 3, riding on CNG-run auto-rickshaw after attending a marriage ceremony in the city in the night.
When they stopped at the Toll Plaza of Karnaphuli Bridge to pay toll, a speeding bus rammed the three-wheeler around 12:00 am, leaving the four members of the family dead on the spot and CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver Suruj Miah, 55, injured.
Suruj died on the way to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
Police seized the killer bus, however, its driver and helper managed to flee the spot, said OC Rafiqul. -UNB
