5-member body formed to probe city market fire

Dhaka – A five-member probe committee has been formed in connection with the fire that broke out at Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) market in the city’s Gulshan area early Tuesday.
The Fire Service and Civil Defense Headquarters formed the committee, headed by its deputy director (operation) Debashis Bhardan, sources at the Fire Service and Civil Defence control room said.
The committee has been asked to submit its report as early as possible, the sources added.
The fire that broke out at the DNCC market around 2.30am could not yet be brought under control till filing of the report around 3pm.
Meanwhile, part of the two-storey DNCC market collapsed following the massive fire.
Twenty-two units fire-fighting units are trying to douse the fire, said Bhaojon, said Bhaojon Kumar Sarker, a duty officer at the Fire Service and Civil Defence control room. -UNB
