72-hr hartal in hill districts against land bill from Today

Parbatya Bangalee Chhatra Parishad (PBCP) and Parbatya Nagarik Parisahd will enforce a 72-hour hartal in the three hill districts from Tuesday protesting the approval to the CHT Land Commission (Amendment) Bill by the cabinet. The decision was taken after a joint meeting of the two groups on Sunday night. They announced the programme through sending e-mails to the local journalists.
They will also hold a human chain at Aparajayo Bangla in Dhaka University and submit a memorandum to the Speaker of the parliament.
Earlier, Parbatya Chattagram Samoadhikar Andolon, a platform of Bangla-speaking settlers in the CHT, also enforced a 3-day strike in Rangamati, Bandarban and Khagrachhari districts from June 9 to 11 on the same ground. (Source: UNB)
