B’desh efforts in population management lauded

Outgoing UNFPA rep lauds B’desh efforts in population management Bangladesh continues to move in the right direction, one step after next, in the areas of population management and promoting sexual and reproductive health, the UNFPA Country Representative in Bangladesh said Monday.“And there has been no fluctuation in this onward march,” Arthur Erken said during a meeting with Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni at the latter’s office.
He said that Bangladesh is poised for a transformative social change thanks to the unflagging commitment of its political leadership and
the pragmatic mindset of its people to make things move.
The outgoing UNFPA representative commended Bangladesh’s creative approach to certain critical issues under UNFPA’s mandate that helped it overcome many challenges faced by other countries in a comparable situation.
Erken, who served in Bangladesh for five years, said: “I tell all my colleagues that they should serve at least one term in Bangladesh
since everything that UNFPA does happens in this country, and happens on the right track.”
The Foreign Minister thanked Erken for his excellent contributions to Bangladesh’s development efforts and assured his successor of
