Dhaka – The 14th AGM of Bangladesh Water Partnership (BWP), chaired by Dr. Kh. Azharul Haq, President, BWP was held on 17 Dec 2016 at Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC), Framgate, Dhaka.
A total of 44 members and partners of BWP attended the meeting. The agenda included among others the (i) approval of the minutes of 13th AGM, (ii) the General Secretary’s Report (iii) the Auditor’s Report, 2015 (iv) presentation by the IWM on ‘A case study on the feasibility of rain water harvesting in urban areas’ (v) presentation by the CEGIS on ‘A study on effect of climate change on water and food security in selected coastal deltas and its possible economic impact’ and (vi) Miscellaneous.
The General Secretary’s Report was presented by Mr. Moshiur Rahman, General Secretary, and the Auditor’s Report by Ms. Mukta Akter, Executive Secretary of BWP.
After a thorough, lively and interactive discussion, the AGM confirmed the minutes of 13th AGM, and approved the General Secretary’s Report and the Auditor’s Report, 2015.
Presentation on ‘A case study on the feasibility of rain water harvesting in urban areas’ was made by Mr. Mizanur Rahman, Ground Water Specialist, Institute of Water Modeling (IWM).
Presentation on ‘A study on effect of climate change on water and food security in selected coastal deltas and its possible economic impact’ was made by Mr. Md. Ashis Mawla, Jr. Specialist, Center for Environmental and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS)
Under the agenda, Miscellaneous, a brief presentation was made by Mr. Sohanur Rahman, Social Economic Development Society (SEEDS), on ‘Youth for water and climate’.
The AGM highly appreciated all the three presentations made by the BWP’s partner organistions namely, the IWM, the CEGIS and the SEEDS.
Both the Vice Presidents of the BWP Mr. H. S. Mozaddad Faruque and Dr. Nilufa Islam spoke on the occasion.
The AGM also applauded BWP’s continuous involvement and efforts in fostering the principles of Integrated Water Resources Management and Youth Engagement in the BWP’s main stream activities towards ‘water and climate change issues’.
