Accused Jahangir Mandal made confessional statement while witness Maruf Reza Sagar made depositions in the Milky murder case on Wednesday.Magistrate Amit Kumar Dey of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka recorded confessional statement of Jahangir while Magistrate Emdadul Haque of the CMM Court recorded depositions of witness Sagar.
Jahangir is the driver of Juba League leader Chanchal, an accused in the murder case, while Sagar, was an associate of slain Juba League leader Rezaul Haque Milky. Sagar’s wife Fahima Islam Lopa made confessional statement in the court on August 4 under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) and then she was sent to the jail.
On July 31, the court placed six accused, including Jahangir, on a
7-day remand each. The court on Wednesday sent them to jail. They are Tuhin Rahman Fahim, Nuruzzaman Saidul, Rashed Mahmud, Mohammad Sujan Hawlader, Syed Mostafa Ali and Jahangir Mandal.
Riazul Haque Khan Milky, organising secretary of Dhaka city (south) unit of Jubo League, the youth associate body of ruling Awami League, was gunned down by miscreants in front of Shoppers’ World at Gulshan Avenue-1 in the capital on July 29 at about 1’ clock.
A closed-circuit camera in the shopping mall picked up the incident.
RAB identified Zahid Siddiqui Tarek, another Organising Secretary of Juba League, as the killer from the video footage and arrested him within hours of killing.
Later, Tarek was killed in a ‘gun-battle’ between the RAB and the ‘attackers who came to snatch away him.’ –
