Dinajpur – A case has been filed against some 400 opposition leaders and activists in connection with Saturday’s violence in Kaharole upazila.
Shafiquzzaman, sub-inspector of Kaharole Police Station, filed the case against 48 identified and 350 unidentified opposition men under the Speedy Trial Act on Saturday night, said its officer-in-charge Mosabberul Haque. On Saturday, the 18-party men from a procession swooped on the rally of Awami League arranged in Dashmile area protesting hartals and blockades being enforced by the opposition alliance, triggering a clash.
During the clash, four people were injured, 10-12 motorcycles and several shops vandalised.
As police rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control, the opposition men started hurling brick chunks at the law enforcers, leaving one of them injured. – UNB
