Singapore, Sri Lanka, Saarc greet PM

Dhaka – Singapore and Sri Lanka on Tuesday congratulated Sheikh Hasina on her assumption of office of Bangladesh Prime Minister for the third time.
In a message to Sheikh Hasina, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong appreciated the steady progress Bangladesh has made in achieving the MDGs, and its impressive economic performance despite numerous global challenges, according to a Foreign Ministry media release.The Premier of Singapore underscored further strengthening of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
In another message, Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa congratulated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her reelection to the august post for the third time.
President Rajapaksa evinced his keen interest for continued engagement to further strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries.
Meanwhile, Saarc (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) Secretary General Ahmed Saleem also congratulated Sheikh Hasina on his reelection as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh.
Mentioning Bangladesh as a founding member of the Saarc, the Secretary General expressed his hope that Bangladesh will extend continued support and cooperation in furthering the cause of regional cooperation for the common benefit of the peoples within the group. – UNB
