State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan on Saturday asked the
police to perform their duties efficiently and without any prejudice.
He made the call while addressing a views-exchange meeting with
senior police officials at the police headquarters. The junior
minister also asked them to ensure the security of public life and
property upholding human rights. Asaduzzaman advised the members of
the police to be time befitting and speedy in discharging their
responsibilities in improving the law and order situation, curbing
militancy as well as maintaining communal harmony in the country.
During the meeting, the State Minister appreciated the role of the law
enforcers in bringing relief in public mind foiling the planned acts
of sabotage at different places ahead of the 10th parliamentary
elections held on January 5. Asaduzzaman also expressed his sympathy
to the family members of the police men killed while performing their
duties recently. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Hasan Mahmud
Khandker, Additional IGP AKM Shahidul Haque and senior officers were
