Action against all forms of corruption: Energy Minister

Dhaka, July 29 – State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources said the government will not take any responsibility of corruption. Stern action will be taken against all forms of corruption, he said. Speaking as chief guest at the inauguration programme of Four Storied Terminal Office building of Jamuana Oil Company Limited at Guptakal of Patenga in Chattogran yesterday (Sunday).
He urged the state oil companies for automation system for delivering and transportation. He said due to aged old transportation and delivery system the state owned oil companies incurred loss Tk1,000 crore every year.
He said they are installing Single Mourning Point (SPM) ( Pipelines) to carry oil from Ships to the refinery to stop the huge system loss. If we could implement the SPM project the corruption will come down into zero.
The foreign investors are coming in the country as the government has created a reliable atmosphere for investment. If anyone destroy this reliability of the foreign investors stern action will be taken against them.
Accountability is the main thing. Not only government but also to an ordinary share holder can demand accountability of you carelessness and negligence in work, said Hamid.
He said to the employees for your corruption causes the reputation of the government, will not tolerance this government, It is the government of Sheikh Hasina.
We need those employees who’s outcome is good as we need thousands of professionals in the future for the new projects.
Referring the corruption of Boropukoria Coal power plant he said his government stands against corruption. The incident of corruption came into the light is good for his government as the corruption is cught during Awmi League government. There corruption was going on for the last 13 years ‘evils in disguise’. In replying to a question he said the government is not under pressure over the corruption incidents, moreover, corrupted officials fell in under pressure.
Nasrul Hamid inaugurated the newly made terminal building at around 4:30pm while Altaf Hossain Chowdhury, director Finance of Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) as the special guest.
The inauguration programme was presided by Md Sarwar Alam, director marketing of BPC while welcome addressed was given by Kamrul Hasan, managing director of Jamuna Oil Company Limited. – Staff Reporter
