A local Awami League leader was injured as some miscreants stabbed him at Kagajpukur in Sharsha upazila on Tuesday evening.The victim was identified as Mahatab Uddin, joint secretary of Benapole municipality Awami League unit.Victim’s son Sohel said political rivals of Mahatab attacked him over an internal feud at Kagajpukur while he was returning home from Sharsha Upazila Bazar.A team of 8-10 people stabbed Mahatab with sharp weapons, leaving him critically injured.Later, locals rescued him and whisked him off to the Jessore Medical College Hospital.Officer-in-charge of Benapole Port Police Station Apurba Hasan confirming the incident said a team of police had been sent to the spot. -UNB, Benapole
