All graves impinging on Kahn’s design to go

Dhaka – Food Minister Quamrul Islam on Saturday said that all the graves on the National Parliament premises impinging on the main design of Louis Isadore Kahn would be removed.
Not only the grave of Ziaur Rahman but also other graves, including the graves of Sabur Khan, Mashiur Rahman Jadu Mia will be remove based on the main design, he said at a discussion “Journalists Professional Rights and Security and Roles of Mass Media in Liberation War” at the National Press Club in the city.
Bangladesh Journalists Rights Forum (BJRF), an associate organisation of International Federation of Journalists and Asia Journalists Association, arranged the programme.
Recalling the valiant roles of journalists during the liberation war, movement against autocratic government and other critical times the country passed, the Food Minister said once upon a time, news papers were mirror of the society but the situation is presently no more, he added.
Chaired by Advisor of the BJRF and Editor of Bangladesh News Azizul Islam Bhuyian, the discussion was attended, among others by Advisor Editor of the Daily Bartaman Swapan Kumar Shaha, General Secretary of the Indian Journalists Association, Dhaka Sukumar Sarkar, Editor-in-Chief of Newspressbd.com Abdul Mannan and Editor of the Daily Mukta Balaka Alamgir Hossain.
Ataur Rahman, General Secretary of the BJRF, read out the keynote paper and delivered welcome speech. -UNB
