B Chowdhury’s Jukta Front wants public rally on Oct 20

Dhaka, Oct 04 – Prof Dr AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury led Jukta Front wants to hold a public meeting at Suhrawardy Udyan on October 20 to press home their five-point charter of demands for holding the next general elections under a neutral government.The top leaders of the three-party alliance—President of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Rab) ASM Abdur Rab, convenor of Nagorik Oikya Mahmudur Rahman, among other will attend the proposed rally, according
to sources.
Nagorik Oikya leaders- Atiqur Rahman and Iqbal Kabir yesterday applied to the respective department of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) for permission.
Talking to reporters, Atiqur Rahman confirmed that they have applied for the permission to hold the meeting and hoped that they would be given permission for it.
He, however, regretted that they were not given permission to hold a public meeting in Mymensingh on September 30 and waiting for holding another public meeting in Sylhet today.
When contacted Nagorik Oikya chief also confirmed that they want to hold a public meeting at Suhrawardy Udyan on October 20.
Replying to a question he said they are yet to decide whether the leaders of other political parties like BNP and national unity process would be invited to join the rally.
He expressed his optimism that the government would give them permission to hold the rally. – Staff Reporter
